Beneath the Magnolia

‘Beneath the Magnolia’ is a love letter to the gardens at Highgrove and the inspiring blooms that grow there. Magnolias and hellebores served as Edith’s main inspiration, with Edith fascinated by their resilience and form. Her bold colour palette reflects the changing seasons she witnessed here, with vibrant florals breaking through the dormant, dark earth.

Edith explored the ingenuity of Norman Hartnell, the late Queen’s designer, and his innovative use of bespoke sequins in his iconic gowns. This informed the cutting, shaping and painting of her own petal sequins – an unpredictable and exciting process in which each sequin was unique.
